The Winters by Lisa Gabriele

Roses are red. Violets are blue. If you believe in true love. You have no clue.

The Winters by Lisa Gabriele is book for a winter staycation. Delightfully entertaining, the book was inspired by Daphne du Maurier’s Rebecca, a spellbindingly suspenseful novel set in the moneyed world of the Hamptons.

The story centres around a young girl who unexpectedly finds herself falling for an older man; a recently widowed, wealthy man. After a short whirlwind romance, he proposes and asks her to move in with him on a secluded island (that the family owns). His daughter Dani is a teenager, who is very feisty and opinionated. It’s been only two years since her mother passed away in a horrific car accident and Dani is not in any mood to accept this new addition to her family.

Every family has their secrets, but the Winters are not like any family you know. But the plot is plausible and the characters genuinely intriguing. This winter, get your hooks on this psychological thriller that’s going to make you rethink love.
