LOOK! by Édouard Manceau

What do you see?

Having just come back from France, Édouard Manceau’s children’s book LOOK! caught my eye. Why? Sparking creativity and exploration (the way only the French know how), this board book with a square die-cut in the middle mixes a simplicity with a complexity that encourages children to engage with the world around them.

Each page lets a child see the world in a new way. The die-cut acts as a window to the world. LOOK! gives the kid instructions on what to see and how to see it, instilling an internal dialogue in the child's mind that inspires curiosity and conversation about things around them. LOOK! combines touch, feel, sight into a learning book that is subtle and fun. Encouraging kids to be observant about shiny things on one hand, and then asking them if they see anything they want to touch.

Creating new sensory experiences with simple visuals and moving objects, comes quite easily to Édouard Manceau who has written several books including Windblown, The Race and Hatch and Little Egg

Take a LOOK! And see the world in a new way.
