Sunday Night at the Movies by Leanne Shapton

Movie buffs will appreciate this collection of monochrome watercolours by the famous illustrator Leanne Shapton. Seventy eight paintings in total, each representing a still from a movie. What a delight it is trying to match the correct black and white montage to each movie.

Some are easier to guess (depending on your recollection level), while others I found were harder to pinpoint, such as the 1963 movie The Servant
Placed end-to-end, the collection of still watercolour paintings themselves aim to tell a story, which is totally scripted by the reader, and which may be different each time you flip through the book.

Published by Drawn and Quarterly and distributed in Canada by Raincoast Books

  1. I'm really looking forward to this one: I loved Swimming Studies.
