Something for every Sweet Tooth


What better reason to bring back teatime...

It’s been a while since I’ve come across a book that’s cooking up a storm in my humble abode. Surprising, I now have three to tell you about.


The first is Canadian Living’s The Complete Chocolate Book with over 100+ how-to photos and tips from Canada’s most-trusted kitchen. Charles Schulz once said, “All you need is love. But a little chocolate now and then doesn’t hurt.” I concur! A deliciously decadent chocolate cake does a lot for a lot of people, and when it’s homemade, there’s just no comparison. The recipes in The Complete Chocolate Book are remarkably easy, and most likely if you are a seasoned baker the ingredients are right there in your pantry. The contents in this book are also divided into the most tempting sections: GOOEY, CREAMY, CRUNCHY CHEWY, MELTY, CRUMBLY, CHILLY AND CAKEY.

The Chocolate-Glazed Chocolate Chip muffins on Page 327 is a simple recipe and a huge hit if you want to surprise your coworkers with a Monday morning treat. Who doesn’t enjoy chunks of chocolate chips with a double dose of chocolate glazing on top? Decadent! Surprisingly though, they were quite easy to scarf down and almost didn’t feel like tons of calories. Almost!



The second book recommendation is Butter Baked Goods by Rosie Daykin. Sometimes a girl’s gotta have even more chocolate. So, here’s the one I tried: Butter’s Chocolate Cake. An absolutely gorgeous layer cake that your family and friends will be very thankful for when you serve it. The book itself is a beautiful work of art. From cover to cover, the pages are laden with fabulous photography. You just won’t be able to keep this book on the shelf collecting dust. And remember, when you’re indulging in decadence, there’s no such thing as calorie counting.

 















The final cookbook is Martha Stewart’s Cakes. It’s her first-ever book of bundts, loaves, layers, coffee cakes, and more. From the Queen of baking, you’ll discover a collection of classics, from pound cakes to lemon meringue. With over 150 recipes, complete with pictures of the finished product, you’ll be craving a delicious treat perhaps even on a daily basis. What better reason to bring teatime back? So, stock up on all your baking ingredients! This is going to be a sweet year for you!
