Hellgoing by Lynn Coady

In her new book, Hellgoing, Scotiabank Giller Prize finalist Lynn Coady, incorporates eight versatile short stories that speak to the human situation, but often leave you to interpret the character’s messy situations. Humour is delicately intertwined with serious. The stories are varied, from a nun charged with removing an anorexic from her religious fanatism, to a bride-to-be with a penchant for nocturnal bondage.

The characters are laden with an abundance of confused moments, and Lynn Coady’s collection of stories are just as much frustrating as they can be insightful.
